SMMUSD students benefit from a variety of programs as a result of SMMEF funds raised through the annual campaign, endowments, and proceeds from events.

Edison Language Academy

Thanks to generous contributions to SMMEF, Edison students benefit from the following programs and resources this year:

  • Theater and visual arts for Kindergarten-5th Grade (in addition to the existing 3rd-5th Grade music program)
  • Ballroom Dance for 5th Grade
  • Highly-Trained Instructional Assistants (26 hours of staff time per day, every school day)
  • Discretionary Grant of $46,769 to fund K-2 Spanish Music Program, ST Math for Grades K-5 (technology program), A-Z Learning (Learning Spanish through technology for Grades K-2), Discovery Education (Science streaming for Grades K-5), and the mural project
  • Recorders for all 3rd grade students
  • Dream Winds and Dream Voice teachers

Franklin Elementary School

Grant Elementary School

    • Discretionary Grant of $35,154 to fund the Planet Bravo program, additional instructional assistant time, teacher training and additional health and front office staff time.

    • Highly-trained Instructional Assistants (31 hours of staff time per day, every school day)
    • Discretionary Grant of $56,517 to fund academic and enrichment programs, such as teacher training, Music Rhapsody for K-2, Pali Camp scholarships (3-day science enrichment camp for Grade 5), and after-school math intervention

    • Discretionary Grant of $52,527 to fund and support the Student Spaceflight Experiment Program, training for teachers and staff, social-emotional program for students, including mindfulness and anti-bullying, Chance to Dance and the AVID program
